Ole Miss Powder Blues

Jim Burr is a legendarily bad ref

If you watched the Ole Miss-Kentucky game, you may have noticed something was missing... fouls called against Kentucky's big men.  Nerlens Noel had twelve blocks, you say?  Well, that's not that big of a feat when the ref gives you ten to fifteen fouls to use.

Although the Rebels shooting was hugely to blame, Referee Jim Burr cannot be excused.  He allowed Kentucky to absolutely batter Ole Miss's big men without batting an eye, but, if Ole Miss even looked at his dear Kentucky players the wrong way, his whistle blew, and he proudly called dramatically danced out fouls.

One of these fouls against Ole Miss occurred as Ole Miss forward Aaron Jones fell to the ground with what may be a season ending injury.

But, Burr's got a history.  He was previously suspended (and banned from the Big East Tournament) after what were called "puzzling no calls" in a St. John's/Rutgers game last year.  Watch that ending here: http://youtu.be/HmZEbe3Q2ps.  Which ref do you see darting off the floor?  Jim Burr.  Listen to those commentators bash Burr.

Jim Burr: You are Doyle Jackson all over again.

Is this post freaking serious?! Ole Miss was in the double freaking bonus with 12 minutes to go in the first half. And what the hell do you have to say about the play where the ole miss player fell down, rolled over and stuck his whole arm on the baseline and there was no call. Just cause Marshal white trash Henderson couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat, don’t go blaming referees, because they were on the home side. Maybe if ole miss basketball could ever recruit a player like Nerlens, they wouldn’t have to bitch about referees!
