Long live the cap & t-shirt crowd!
Things just keep getting better under Ross Bjork!
Today, Bjork and Keith Carter announced the UMAA Foundation (the fundraising arm for athletics) will be no more, and they totally restructured giving to athletics at Ole Miss.
OXFORD, Miss. – As Rebel Athletics’ fundraising efforts continue to reach new heights, the development department will do so with a new name, the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation, and a new structure for the annual fund.
Memberships now start at just $50, and there is a level for every Ole Miss fan.
Carter, "we are creating a ‘give what you can’ philanthropic option for all fans to invest in the future of Ole Miss Athletics. ... Ole Miss Athletics cannot succeed without our loyal members and the support they provide our student-athletes and coaches,” Carter said. “With so many simple ways to get involved, all Rebel fans can be part of Ole Miss Athletics and help define our future.”
We have all been begging for years for our leaders to stop focusing exclusively on a few rich buddies who donate hundreds of thousands and to recognize the value of the tens of thousands of "cap & t-shirt" fans. Our past leaders wouldn't dare condescend to speak to such measly donors (which, financially speaking, includes 99% of all young donors aka the future of Ole Miss), and it's so awesome to see things continue to move forward.
